TechSoup Global’s annual digital storytelling challenge brings an opportunity for not-for-profit organisations to learn from each other in a series of interactive events, resource sharing and a challenge with USD$13,000 in cash prizes to be won.

Here's how you can get involved:

4 September: Tweet along with a 24-hour global tweetchat

Join a rolling online discussion that will span the globe over 24 hours on Twitter. Using the #Storymakers2014 hashtag, representatives from various countries will host a series of one-hour discussions covering a range of topics to help with your digital storytelling efforts.

Connecting Up will be hosting the Australian conversation at 3:30pm AEST. Join us on Twitter for a discussion on mobile tools and platforms you can use to create and share your digital story.

Vivan Chandra from NetSquared Auckland will also be hosting a segment from 3:00pm NZST (1pm AEST).

16 September: Meet face to face at NetSquared Melbourne

If learning face to face is more your thing, head along to NetSquared Melbourne’s event, “The art of storytelling: how to get your story straight” with guest speaker, Sarah Harrison. Here’s a quick look at what will be covered:

“We're all told how important good content is these days. That storytelling can truly engage people and influence how much an audience will share your content and listen to what you have to say. But how do you take it from an idea to carefully crafted content that tells a story?

In this session we'll talk about getting your story straight - and it all starts with the brief.”
